Commuter miles and highway symptoms

Heavy commutes build heat and wear, even when most of the miles are on the highway. Many commuters notice problems at speed first: a shudder while cruising, a slip when merging, or the engine revving higher than it should.

A shudder at a steady highway speed often points to the torque converter, and sometimes to worn fluid. It can feel like driving over rumble strips. It is worth checking early, because it usually gets worse.

What a diagnosis looks at

• Fluid level, color, and smell
• Stored trouble codes from the transmission
• Leaks at seals, lines, and the pan
• How the torque converter behaves under load
• Shift timing and feel on a road test

Once we know the cause, you get a written estimate. It might be a fluid service, a torque converter, a solenoid, a rebuild, or a replacement. We explain which one and why.

Manuals and clutches

If you drive a stick, we repair manual transmissions and replace clutches. A clutch that slips, grabs high, or grinds going into gear is worth a look before it leaves you stuck in traffic.

Getting here from Hollywood

For many Hollywood drivers, the simplest route is State Road 7 north. It runs straight up to the shop. We are a few blocks south of Broward Boulevard, on the west side of the road near SW 6th Street. If you are closer to I-95 or the Turnpike, both connect to I-595, which has an exit at State Road 7. Head north from there.
