About the A750E and A750F
The A750 is Toyota's 5-speed automatic for body-on-frame trucks and SUVs. The A750E is the rear-wheel drive version and the A750F is the 4WD version. It went into the V6 Tacoma, the V8 4Runner from 2003 and the V6 4Runner from 2005 until the 2025 redesign, the FJ Cruiser, older Tundras and Sequoias, the Land Cruiser and the Lexus GX 470 and LX 470. It has a reputation as a tough unit, and many run for years with little attention. When they do fail, it is usually from heat, old fluid or a worn converter.
Why the A750 fails
Torque converter shudder is the most common problem. It feels like driving over rumble strips at light throttle, and if it's caught early a fluid exchange sometimes helps. Left alone, the converter clutch wears and puts debris in the fluid. Solenoid and valve body problems cause erratic shifting. Towing, off-road use and hot Florida summers all build heat, and these trucks often go a long time between fluid changes. Using the wrong fluid also causes shift complaints; Toyota calls for its WS fluid.
Rebuilt vs used for a Tacoma or 4Runner
Tacomas and 4Runners hold their value, and so do their transmissions. Used A750s tend to have high miles, and many came out of trucks that towed or went off-road. A remanufactured unit is built to a general spec. We VIN-check your truck, then rebuild the A750 in our Plantation shop with new soft parts, a cleaned and inspected valve body, a torque converter matched to your engine and any worn hard parts replaced. It goes back in built for your truck, E or F.

A750E / A750F questions
What is the difference between the A750E and A750F?
Toyota uses E for two-wheel drive and F for four-wheel drive. The A750F has the output that bolts to a transfer case, so the two are not swapped without changing parts. Your VIN tells us which one you need.
Is a Tacoma A750 the same as a 4Runner A750?
They share a design, but bellhousing, calibration and other details change with engine and model. We check your VIN before the build so the unit fits your truck.
Will my truck need programming after install?
Some units need a relearn or programming after install; we'll tell you if yours does. At minimum, the transmission's learned values should be reset with a scan tool so it doesn't shift harshly.
How do I get a rebuilt A750?
Pay online, and we VIN-check the order and rebuild the unit here in Plantation. Pick it up at 631 S State Rd 7 or have it shipped by freight. A refundable core deposit applies.

Units are built to order. Most are ready about 4 to 6 weeks after payment. Need it sooner? Call us, we can often work something out.

A refundable deposit added at payment. Send your old transmission back to the shop and we refund it to your card once it's checked in.
