About the U760E and U760F
The U760E is Toyota's 6-speed transaxle for its four-cylinder engines, mainly the 2.5L and 2.7L, and the U760F is the AWD version. It went into the four-cylinder Camry, the RAV4 from 2013, the Venza and Highlander four-cylinder, the early four-cylinder Sienna and the Scion tC. It is a smaller cousin of the V6 U660 and is built for everyday commuting. Like other late-model Toyotas, it has no dipstick and came with long-life fluid, so many have gone their whole lives without a fluid change.
Why the U760 fails
The best-known U760 problem is torque converter shudder. It shows up at light throttle around city speeds, when the converter clutch locks up, and feels like driving over rumble strips. Toyota ran warranty programs for some 2012 to 2014 Camry and 2013 to 2015 RAV4 models that replaced the converter and updated software. When shudder goes on for a long time, the converter can shed material into the fluid. At higher mileage, clutch packs and valve body parts wear, and old fluid speeds that up.
Rebuild, used or reman
Used U760s are common, but most come from the same years that had converter shudder, and you can't tell from outside whether the converter was ever replaced or whether debris got into the valve body. A remanufactured unit is built to a general spec. We VIN-check your vehicle, then rebuild the unit in our Plantation shop with new soft parts, a torque converter matched to your engine, a cleaned and inspected valve body and any worn hard parts replaced. It is built for your car or SUV.

U760E / U760F questions
My Camry or RAV4 shudders. Could Toyota still cover it?
Toyota ran warranty programs for converter shudder on some 2012 to 2014 Camry and 2013 to 2015 RAV4 models. Those programs have time and mileage limits, so ask a Toyota dealer to check your VIN before you pay for a rebuild.
Do I need a U760E or a U760F?
The E is front-wheel drive and the F is AWD, such as an AWD RAV4 or Venza. Your VIN confirms the version, and we check it before we build.
Will my car need programming after install?
Some units need a relearn or programming after install; we'll tell you if yours does. Toyotas usually need the transmission's learned values reset with a scan tool afterward.
How does a rebuilt U760 get to me?
Pay online, and after the VIN check we rebuild the unit in Plantation. Pick it up at 631 S State Rd 7 or have it shipped by freight. A refundable core deposit applies.
How long does it take?
Units are built to order. Most are ready about 4 to 6 weeks after payment. Need it sooner? Call us, we can often work something out.
What is the core deposit?
A refundable deposit added at payment. Send your old transmission back to the shop and we refund it to your card once it's checked in.
